wave reflections
The order should probably be in reverse, for I am first and foremost a child of God - as I believe are all created humans.

Brought up in South Wales to the age of 22. My parents (Nan and Gordon) were committed Christians, each in their own way giving me themselves and their spirituality, which has been of major significance in helping to shape my own development even after I left home and even now after they have now entered that 'second phase of life'....
Three years ecological research in NE Scotland, studying birds, followed by agricultural research and two years studying seals around UK coats and islands.
Married Hazel, a farmer's daughter from Aberdeenshire; we have three wonderful daughters of our own
Lived for 20 years in the Orkney Isles, with a marvellously fulfilling second career in school-teaching
St Peter's Day 1990 : heart attack.......
Moved to West Sussex, in what seemed like the most crazy move ever - from idyllic island life to 'commuter-land'
But not so.
I can look back and see that it was during those 14 years in the south-east that my life developed, matured and broadened at what seemed like a rate faster than at other times. One key person was my Spiritual Director, Christine. 'SD' is a poor name really, a much better one being a Soul Friend (Anam Cara in Celtic spirituality). Christine helped me to grow spiritually, particularly through following the spiritual exercises of St Ignatius over a year.
All the time music has been my passion, my way of interacting most closely with others and with/in community. Whether it was as a church organist or a choir-leader - or being part of an amateur operatic society (a develop-ment from drama), or directing groups of singers in a variety of settings - music offers me the best way to express my inner-most being.
Alongside that has been my writing - articles, poetry, essays and reflective pieces.....another way of expressing how I see the world.
But maybe most of all my life has been about relationships. Yes, relationships between me and the natural world, but primarily between me and my family. Being a husband and a father has clearly been the reason I was brought into existence. And in the past 13 years our family has had to endure considerable health problems of various kinds - all of which has enabled me to care, which I now realise is at my very core.
So in just eight words, what is important to me now: my family --- islands --- music --- caring --- wild places --- worship
These pages contain my reflections - a way of seeing and expressing my perception of the world as it were 'through two-way mirrors'.
